It is our mission to provide you with the best quality self-defense products at an affordable price. Although, self-defense products are not 100% they are very effective when trying to escape an attacker. When it comes to choosing a self-defense product it comes down to preference and what you find most comfortable carrying. Here are a few frequently asked questions. Please feel free to reach out to us for any additional questions or concerns.

What is your shipping policy?

We will not sell or ship our products to minors. By purchasing products for Shock ‘Em Girl.com you affirm that you are 18 years of age or older.

Most orders will be shipped within 7 to 10 business days of receipt of payment. As we ship large quantities of merchandise daily, occasionally an item you order may have run out. As our stock is replenished daily, any item that is not on hand usually will be back in stock within one week. In this situation you may experience a brief delay in shipping your order, but all orders generally ship within 7 to 10 business days (Saturday and Sunday excluded). In the event that we cannot fulfill your order within that time, we will notify you.

If your item contains multiple items, and 1 or 2 are not on hand, we will usually ship your order, and then ship the other items within 3-5 business days when they are available again. In this case, you will not be charged any extra shipping charges for the 2nd shipment. Your tracking number will be emailed to you when your order ships.

We offer shipping either by UPS Ground*, U.S Postal Service Priority Mail or First Class Mail. Shipping costs are calculated in the shopping cart.

*Pepper spray and any aerosol must be shipped by ground service only.

What is your return policy?

We have a 30 day refund/exchange policy. We will accept a product back for a refund or exchange 30 days after the purchase*. The product must be unopened in its original packaged condition. We will gladly exchange the item for an identical, if stock permits. If for any reason the merchandise is not available, we will offer a product of similar (or better) quality or issue a store credit for the full amount of the purchase.

This number will be furnished to you at the time the return is authorized, and must be on the address label or prominently marked on the box or shipping envelop. Each return must have a return form to process the return. Click here to download our return form.

Do you exchange defective products?

We will replace defective products for up to 30 days after purchase*. We ask that you test the product before returning to us. Products must not show signs of misuse and all the parts and accessories must be included. We will process your request after we determine whether the product is defective or not.

What is the shelf life of pepper spray?

Expiration dates vary by brand but usually last 2-5 years from time of manufacture. Each pepper spray has an expiration date stamped on the canister or inside packaging. We strongly advise you replace you pepper spray every 2 years assure the potency of the spray.

New York: New York residents may only purchase defense sprays from licensed Firearms Dealers or licensed Pharmacists in that state.

Massachusetts: Massachusetts residents may only purchase defense sprays from licensed Firearms Dealers in that state.

States Where Pepper Sprays Have Some Restrictions

Michigan: Pepper spray must not be more than 10% and can be used for self defense. “The reasonable use of a self-defense spray or foam device containing not more than 10% oleoresin capsicum by a person in the protection of a person or property under circumstances that would justify the person’s use of physical force. The Canister size is restricted to 35grams approx. 1.2oz.

Wisconsin: Tear gas is not permissible. By regulation, OC products with a maximum OC concentration of 10% and weight range of oleoresin of capsicum and inert ingredients of 15-60 grams are authorized. This is 1/2 oz. and 2 oz. spray. Further, the product cannot be camouflaged, and must have a safety feature designed to prevent accidental discharge. The units may not have an effective range of over 20 feet and must have an effective range of six feet. In addition there are certain labeling and packaging requirements: must state cannot sell to anyone under 18 and the phone number of the manufacturer has to be on the label. The units must also be sold in sealed tamper-proof packages.

IMPORTANT: Pepper Spray is legal in all 50 states, however a number of cities and states have restrictions on sizes, strengths, etc.. If you have a question, it is wise to check with you local city or state attorneys office. Defense sprays should only be purchased by those 18 years of age or older. What are the effects of Pepper Spray?

Pepper spray is used in self-defense and works as an inflammatory agent wit the desired effect of involuntary eye closure. Pepper spray attacks the mucous membranes and respiratory system and causes the assailant’s eyes to clamp shut and be overcome with uncontrollable coughing, temporary blindness and the attacker is left in pain for a least 30 minutes to an hour.

Pepper spray works by attacking the respiratory system by causing the lining of the throat to swell and limit airflow. The chemical in pepper spray hits the eyes and the capillaries dilate and the eyes slam shut. Dilation of the pupils make give the eyes temporary blindness. Rubbing the eyes make it worse because capsaicin is oil-based. Oil-based substances like baby oil and milk will help neutralize the effects of pepper spray.

Can I fly with self-defense products?

You are allowed to fly with pepper spray and your stun gun in your CHECKED luggage. Your pepper spray must have a locking safety mechanism and be less than 4 ounces. Never put your self-defense products in your carry on luggage. Take the time to call your local airport for current laws.

Remember stun guns and pepper spray have restrictions in many cities are states. These restrictions can be size, who can sell it and formulation.
