Yes, pepper spray is effective and used to incapacitate an attacker to allow you enough time to get away. When the product is pressed a short burst of pepper spray provides immediate intense pain and severe inflammation of the membranes. This forces the eyes to swell shut by the excessive tearing and the respiratory tract becomes inflamed causing breathing to be difficult. This should disable an assailant for up to 45 mins with severe coughing, choking and wheezing. The objective is to spray your assailant and run away for help.

A stun gun is designed to immobilize an attacker without causing serious injury through the use of high-voltage electricity. Stun guns are considered close-proximity weapons because you have to physically touch someone with the device for it to work. They are used as a deterrent to temporarily disable an attacker to provide an opportunity to escape safely. When the stun gun is activated electricity pulses between two metal prongs. You must touch the attacker with the stun gun with the prongs sending an electric current at the point of contact.
